Changes in dog control legislation mean that from 1st of July 2007, all newly registered dogs must be micro-chipped.

Microchipping is an option more cat owners are choosing to do as well.

Microchippping is a very simple procedure.  The microchip is about the size of a grain of rice which and is implanted under your pet’s skin between the shoulder blades, at the base of your dog’s neck.  It contains a unique number providing a secure and reliable way of identifying it.   Many owners choose to have their pet microchipped at vaccination or neutering stage.

We highly recommend you register your cat and/or dog’s microchip number on the NZ Animal Companion Register for $17.00 – Our staff will arrange this for you. This loads your pets details on the national microchip database; and if your pet is found injured or lost anywhere in NZ, and taken to a vet or picked up by a dog control officer, it will automatically be scanned and you will be contacted, saving a lot of unnecessary concern.
